2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: i bet you if you didm't have badges you would not be saying that now lol

2011-03-23 [Akayume]: I did lots of things around here before I had badges. (:

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: badges seperate members......

basically into groups, therefore its like the pieces of s**ts are the ones with no badges and probably not going to get any as the staff are to power crazy on here

2011-03-23 [Akayume]: And what makes you think the council/anyone who has a badge are power crazy? I'm honestly curious.

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: because it takes some people over 2 years of being on here to become anything on here, it makes people feel like they are a nobody, that is one of the problems people are slowly but truly leaving elftown. because they feel like they are a nothing

2011-03-23 [Akayume]: But there's so much more to do here than collect badges. You can start a roleplay, make friends, create wikis and groups, enter contests, comment in forums...

I used to roleplay all the time. That was my main reason for staying here actually.

And although we'd love to accept anyone into the council, it just isn't possible. It's a huge responsibility, and not everyone is ready for that right away when they join up.

Besides, I think anything worth anything is something you have to work for. (:

2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Now that's far from true! Sure the badges look pretty in your house, but they're not the main point behind Elftown! If you want any, you've got to work for them, show your creative prowess. Elftown is an artist's site, not one of those typical social sites where the more of something you have the better you are! I only have a few badges, and even when I didn't have any I didn't feel like a nobody. Hell, I didn't even know what badges were for the first few months and couldn't have cared less! None of my friends feel like nobodies either, we're here to be who we are, not strive to be the best at any particular thing or have the most badges.

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: what, work for at least a year, and also, some people do feel like a nobdy, thats why alot of people leave elftown.

they should create a new badge for people who have been on here for 1month, 2month etc: each time changing the badge on there house, thats the way alot of the sites i go on do the badges

2011-03-23 [Akayume]: Well, it's a little silly to reward people for logging in every once in a while. :P

You don't get to be in charge of facebook, but you don't leave that site because you're a nobody.

2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Elftown is different, and so far I haven't spoken to anybody who feels like a nobody just because they don't have any badges. I've got a lot of friends through elftown and a lot of creative partners. I joined to enhance my art and writing through roleplaying, co-writing, having others read and critique my work, and so on.

The people that leave sites like elftown... Honestly I don't believe they leave because they feel like a nobody. Personally I've known people to leave because they can't stand the fact that some members are complete perverts and only here to socialize/cyber. One of my friends didn't have a choice but to leave the net forever; as some people do. Also, I met my husband and fellow creative entrepeneur through elftown's sister site- writersco.

I've never been on a site that offered badges before, and I don't believe they're meant to tantalize members into staying. Art isn't about the reward, but the knowledge that whilst having fun... You're improving yourself in the process. That's my opinion, anyway.

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: facebook is alot different. plus i am also a volunteer on there.

[Ravendust]: so wich site did you go on first, writersco or elftown

2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Writersco was my first site, I joined up with elftown about 3 months or so after I joined over there.

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: so you did encounter the badges on there *confused*

2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: Nope, not a single badge for me over there, until I was chosen as a daily poet on here I didn't even know what they were honestly.

2011-03-23 [Akayume]: And writerso is a heddate site, so they are similar.

My point was that you don't go on a site to get pretty shinies, but to use the site. (;

2011-03-23 [Ravendust]: So... is Elftown Graphics Group an official wiki? If so it doesn't have an owner... :-/

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: i do use the site

2011-03-23 [kians mummy]: yes it is, you need to put it up on here

2011-03-23 [Flisky]: [Akayume] is now the owner. And that can be changed whenever.

2011-03-23 [Mortified Penguin]: You don't train your Pokemon and face the gym leaders for the badges, but rather for the friendship with your Pokemon and the experience you share. Badges don't help you beat the elite four, Gary. It isn't about leveling up, but about the bond between you and your Pokemon. That is why you fail.

2011-03-23 [Thunder Cid]: If I'm not mistaken Writersco is dead.
